Betty Jean Dingess

Betty Jean Dingess, 84, of Newport, North Carolina, was surrounded by her loving family when she passed away Sunday, January 14, 2024, at Carteret Health Care.

A funeral service to honor Betty's life will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, January 19th at Munden Funeral Home, officiated by Chaplain Mark Holland. Interment will follow at Gethsemane Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Betty was born in North Matewan, West Virginia, the daughter of the late Homer Mahone and Maude Mahone. She had a special touch for gardening and decorating. She took great pride in her garden, and it was admired by many. She also loved writing poetry and painting. Betty was a wonderful person that brightened the lives of all that knew her and will be greatly missed.

Beloved mother of Harry Dingess and wife Caroline, David Dingess, Jeannie Gray and husband Jeremy. Betty was a loving Nan and grandmother to 9 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Betty was preceded in death by two sisters, Marie Hatfield and Erma Looney; and two brothers, Arnold Mahone, and John Mahone.
