Betty Garner Culpepper

Betty Garner Culpepper, 93, of Mill Creek, passed away on Saturday, September 25, 2021, at Carteret Health Care.

A graveside service will be held at 5:30 p.m., Tuesday, September 28th, at the Chadwick Family Cemetery in Mill Creek, officiated by Rev. Doug Randall and Rev. James Chadwick The family will receive friends following the service.  For those unable to attend, the service can be viewed through her obituary page on Munden Funeral Home’s website.

Betty was born on July 28, 1928, in Hopewell, Virginia, to the late Lokey and Hattie Mae Garner. She loved the Lord and her church family. She spent most of her life clamming on Harlowe Creek. Betty loved seafood, her favorite was oysters, and she loved to bake for her family and friends. She loved her family and especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by her son, Nicholas Dean Culpepper, Jr.; grandchildren, Nicholas Dean Culpepper, III and wife Amanda, Jason Anthony Culpepper and wife Brandy, Holly Marsh and husband Stephen, and Tina Brock; great-grandchildren, Julyia Rose Culpepper, Mason Nicholas Culpepper, Gianna Nicole Culpepper; Caitlyn Marsh, Alysa Brock and Ryan Brock; and her brother, Ray Garner of Mill Creek.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Nicholas Dean Culpepper Sr., and step-mother, Hazel Garner.
