Betsy Bell Lowery, 74, of Newport, passed away on Thursday, December 26, 2024 at Brookstone Living Center in Pollocksville.
A graveside service to honor Betsy’s life will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, December 31 at Cedar Grove Cemetery, officiated by Bob Lowery.
Betsy was born on October 25, 1950, in Morehead City, to the late Bernard and Crystal Bonner. She had a zest for life that showed in everything she did. Betsy loved spending time fishing, playing games, and eating her favorite, Chinese food. She had an interesting palate, she loved hogfish, pig tails, and pineapple cake with the seven-minute frosting. Betsy loved being outdoors gardening, soaking up the sun while watching her hummingbirds.
She was a fan of The Gaither’s Vocal band. Betsy was known for her incredible turkey neck dressing which was her secret recipe. Nothing brought a smile to her face quite like her kids and grandkids, she adored them. She was known as "Gram" by her precious grandkids. Betsy had a knack for making everyone feel welcome, she was that special. She had a lucky streak when it came to gambling, often hitting jackpots, but she recently hit the biggest one yet. Betsy was truly one of a kind, and her memory will live on in all the hearts she touched along the way.
Those remaining to cherish her memory are her daughters, Penny Page of Cedar Point, NC; Cecilia Taylor of Newport, NC; sons, BJ Bell (Jenny) of Newport, NC, Clayton Lowery Jr. of Bayboro, NC; 6 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Betsy was preceded in death by her husband, Clayton Ray Lowery; sister, Linda Reed; and special aunt, Estelle Willis.
As an expression of sympathy, flowers are welcome.
