Bertha Meehan Goodwin, 80
Bertha Goodwin, 80, of Morehead City, entered the church triumphant on Saturday, August 3, 2013, in her home. She was born on September 29, 1932 at St. Mary’s Bay, Newfoundland, Canada.
She is survived by one son, the Rev. Dennis M. Goodwin and wife Peggy; three sisters, Phyllis Miller of Denver, Colorado; Frances Curtin of North Kingstown, Rhode Island; Genevieve (Gen) Gibbons of St. Johns, Newfoundland; and brother, William (Will) George Meehan of St. Mary’s Bay, Newfoundland. She is also survived by one step-son, Dallas Goodwin of Morehead City and his three children, Nicole, Bennie, and Lynne. She was predeceased by her husband, Dennis M. Goodwin and her youngest son, Dennis Milton Goodwin IV; her parents, John and Margaret Meehan; and two brothers, Augustine (Gus) Meehan and Andrew (Andy) John Meehan.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Morehead City, the Jacqueline Eure Sunday School Class, the Order of the Eastern Star, the American Legion Auxiliary (PUFL), the National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association, and a Life Member of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
A service for the celebration of her life will be held at First United Methodist Church in Morehead City on Wednesday at 11:00 am. Burial will be held one hour prior at 10:00 am at Gethsemane Memorial Park. The Rev. Mike Frese and the Rev. Joseph Franklin will be officiating the services. A reception will follow the services at the Church Fellowship Hall.
The family will receive friends at Munden Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. on Tuesday from 6:00 - 8:00 pm.
