Bertha "Granny" (Ellis) Blevins

Bertha Ellis Blevins, "Granny" to everyone, 93, of Newport, died Monday, March 7, 2011 at Croatan Ridge Nursing Home.

She was born October 25, 1917 in Chickamauga, GA to the late James and Maddie Ellis, she married the late Glendon "Pappy" Blevins in May 1933. They moved to Havelock in 1944 and later settled in Newport where she lived the rest of her life.

A graveside service will be held 11:00 am Wednesday at New Bern National Cemetery.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Mary Lou Blevins Wright of Newport; two granddaughters, Iona Wright Whitehurst and husband Roger and Rhonda Wright; three great-grandchildren, Charlie Weatherby, Niki Weatherby, and Joy Englehardt; and two great-great-grandchildren, Nicholas Lee and Bryson.

The family will receive friends at Mary Lou's Home 4:00 - 7:00 pm Wednesday following the service.
