Benjamin Ray Nothern, 60, of Harkers Island, North Carolina, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, January 9, 2025.
A memorial service to honor Benjamin’s life will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, January 16th at Harkers Island Pentecostal Holiness Church, officiated by Rev. Wesley Holmes and Brother Anthony Nelson. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Benjamin will be laid to rest privately at Coastal Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville. For those unable to attend, his memorial service can be viewed through his obituary page on Munden Funeral Home’s website. The service will remain on the Funeral Home website for 90 days.
Born on April 4, 1964, in Holly Grove, Arkansas, Benjamin was the loving son of the late James and Margaret Nothern. At the young age of 17, he proudly joined the United States Army, where he honorably served his country.
Benjamin loved living on the coast and often spent his time on the water enjoying his boat. He had a particular fondness for good food, with fried catfish being his favorite meal.
Benjamin's deep faith in the Lord was the strength of his life. He enjoyed the fellowship at Harkers Island Pentecostal Holiness Church, where he formed many meaningful connections. Known for his kindness and love for others, Benjamin's compassion knew no bounds; he embraced everyone without judgment or limitation. Benjamin will be remembered by his family as a devoted husband and an exceptional father.
Those remaining to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Tanya Willis; daughters, Amber Dick (Dueco), Kimberly Willis, Kailey Willis, and Kristy Willis; son, Josh Thorn (Stacey), sisters, Linda Padgette, Raye Ellen Adams, Sharon Skinner (Robert), and Tracy Lewis; brothers, Mike Bivens (Sherry), Raymond Nothern, and Larry Nothern; and father and mother-in-law, Willis and Karen Nelson.
In addition to his parents, Benjamin was preceded in death by his brothers, James Nothern and Gary Nothern.
