Belinda “Bennie” Baird Peay, 77, of Havelock, passed away on Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at the Carolina East Medical Center in New Bern, NC.

A funeral service will be held 7:00 pm, Thursday, February 16, 2017 at the First United Methodist Church, with Reverend William A. Boykin presiding.

Belinda was born on January 1, 1940 @ 12:10 am, and raised in Owensboro, KY.  In 1958, she was crowned as Homecoming Queen of Daviess County High School and would marry her high school sweetheart, Charles, on May 31, after he finished his initial training from the USMC.  She worked at the Maxway Store for over 30 years and retired from there as a manager. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, in Havelock. She was a talented seamstress, devoted wife, and loving mother. She loved the beach and meeting new people.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years; Charles Gerald Peay; daughter, Peri McDonald and husband Bill, of Havelock; son, Charles “Chuck” Peay and wife Anna of Oakfield, GA, Jerry Peay of Bethel, NC, Jeffrey Peay and wife Dawn of Jacksonville, NC; brother, Darrell Baird and wife Marilyn of Owensboro, KY and Dr. John “Mike” Baird and wife Jane of Louisville, KY; sister-in-law, Martha “Sue” McCanless and husband Sammy of Stanley, KY grandchildren, Christopher, Brandi, Kassandra, Jessica, Nevea, Roshelle, Kayla, Jordyn and Tristen; and 15 great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her father, John Clinton Baird and mother, Mildred Mae Morrison Baird.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 till 7:00 pm, in the fellowship hall of the church prior to the service.
