Barbara Moore Lewis

Barbara Moore Lewis, 83, of Newport, passed away Friday, January 29, 2021 at Croatan Ridge Rehabilitation & Nursing Center.

Her funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 6, 2021 at Salter Path United Methodist Church, officiated by Rev. Donald Thomas. Interment will follow at Gethsemane Memorial Park. Friends are welcome to attend the service. In keeping with the CDC guidelines pertaining to the Coronavirus, those who are ill or at-risk (elderly, immune-compromised) are encouraged to stay home. Additionally, there will be a limit to the number of people in the building at one time, as well, those who attend will be asked to bring and wear a protective mask. Barbara was raised by her grandparents, Lovie Jane and Borden Adams in Broad Creek. She was a member of Salter Path United Methodist Church and the church choir, and a past member of Broad Creek Church of God. Her faith in God was very important to her. She loved cooking for her family. Her grandson Plymouth held a special place in her heart.

She is survived by her son, William Dingess of Swansboro; brother, Robert Thomas Adams of Arizona, OJ Best of LaGrange, Ray Adams of Kinston; grandson, Plymouth Dingess and fiancée, Melissa Phillips; great-granddaughter, Cayden Ray Dingess; and number one cousin, J.W. Lewis of Broad Creek.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Plymouth Moore, and her second husband, Guy Lewis; and her twin brother, Borden Ennet Adams.

The family will receive friends 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Friday, February 5, 2021 at Salter Path United Methodist Church.
