Avis Estelle (Guthrie) Asdenti

Avis Estelle Guthrie Asdenti, 97, of Harkers Island, passed away Friday, February 2, 2018 at Snug Harbor on Nelson Bay.

Her funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at Harkers Island Pentecostal Holiness Church, officiated by Reverend Del Murphy and Anthony Nelson. Interment will follow at Vergie Mae Cemetery.

Avis was born and raised on Harkers Island. She was an active member of Harkers Island Pentecostal Holiness Church for over 75 years.  She was a devout Christian lady that was devoted to her family.  Avis was a talented seamstress and she loved to feed all those who came into her home.

She is survived by daughter, Pam Mizell and her husband, Gurney, of Newport; sons, Arnold Asdenti and his wife, Wanda, of Harkers Island, Leslie Asdenti and his friend, Marianne Banks, of Harkers Island; grandchildren, Leslie Asdenti, Jr., Tara Asdenti, Jeremy Asdenti, Jason Asdenti and his wife, Laney, Lesley Taylor, Juliet Thomas, Phillip Guthrie and his wife, Danette, Jessica Hatcher, Daniel Hatcher and his wife, Felisha, Jeff Mizell and his wife, Melissa, Windy Willis and her husband, Lloyd, and Tiffany Mizell; 13 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and her beloved dog, Bubbles.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leslie D. Asdenti, the love of her life; parents, Ernest and Sadie Guthrie; sister, Velma Guthrie; brother, Orville Guthrie; and great-granddaughter, Trinity Bowen.

Family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday, February 5, 2018 at Harkers Island Pentecostal Holiness Church.

The family would like to express a special thanks to her caregivers, Erma Willis, Christy Wilson, Winnie Earle, Maria Brown and the staff of Snug Harbor of Nelson Bay.
