Austin Scott Sherron

June 23, 1988 — August 13, 2013

Austin Sherron, 25, of Newport, died Tuesday, August 13, 2013 at Vidant Medical Center.

A funeral service will be held 3:00 pm Sunday at Glad Tidings Church with Pastor Tim Marriner officiating. Interment will follow at Gethsemane Memorial Park.

Austin was a two year captain on East Carteret High School baseball and basketball teams, the baseball team's MVP his junior and senior year,  the basketball team MVP his senior year and soccer MVP his sophomore year. He was all conference, conference player of the year, and all state baseball player his senior year, in which he also led his team in ERA and strikeouts. In 2006, he helped lead his American Legion Post 46 team to the NC State Title. He was a loving son and brother. Austin was employed as a manager at Window Gang.

He is survived by his mother and step-father, Sharon and Jason Yeomans of Morehead City; father and step-mother, Scott and Tammy Sherron of Havelock; two sisters, Karlie Yeomans and Olivia Yeomans both of Morehead City; brother, Griffin Sherron of Havelock; lifelong friend and cheerleader, Kalah Piner of Beaufort; maternal grandmother, Freida Price of Morehead City;  maternal grandparents, Donnie and Frances Yeomans of Beaufort; paternal grandmother, Jean Sherron of Newport; and paternal grandparents, Willie and Hoa Shelley of Havelock.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Carl and Margie Price, and Marlin Sherron, Jr..

The family will receive friends 6:00 - 8:00 pm Saturday at the church.
