Ashley “Bruce” Hopewell, 55, of Newport, passed away Friday, March 17, 2017 at Crystal Coast Hospice House.

Bruce loved golf and fishing. He was a huge UNC Tarheel and Washington Redskin fan. He loved and was passionate about the restaurant business and in his spare time, he loved spending time with his two dogs.

A funeral service for Bruce will be held at 2:00 on Sunday, March 19, 2017 at Munden Funeral Home with the Reverend Nate Leonard officiating. Interment will follow at Gethsemane Memorial Park.

Bruce is survived by his mother Joyce Russell and husband Gene of Morehead City; stepson, Michael Grow of Beaufort; stepdaughter, J.D. Winchester of Davis; sisters, Denise Avery and husband Sam of Morehead City, Charlene Pennuell and husband Buddy of Newport, Carolyn Blackmon of Emerald Isle; nieces, Danielle Hopewell of Morehead City, Courtney Jordan of Morehead City, Ashley Roy of Elizabeth City, Meredith Blackmon of Raleigh; nephew, Trey Pennuell of Morehead City and many great nieces and nephews.

Bruce was preceded in death by his wife Teresa Hopewell and his father A.G. Hopewell.

A visitation for Bruce will be held from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Sunday, March 19, 2017 at Munden Funeral Home.
