Arthur “Art” Lee Stephens, Sr., 85, of Havelock, passed away Thursday, August 2, 2018, at Harborview Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.
His funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, August 8, 2018, at Munden Funeral Home in Morehead City, officiated by Reverend Don Hadley. Interment, with military honors and Masonic Rites, will follow at Amariah Garner Cemetery.
Art was born and raised in Texas and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps when he was 16. While he was stationed in Edenton, NC he met and married the love of his life, Shirley Winslow Stephens. He honorably served our country 21 years in the United States Marine Corps, including tours of duty in Korea and Vietnam. He retired from Civil Service after 16 years from NADEP at Cherry Point. He enjoyed being in the Mason’s where he was a member for almost 30 years. Among his other interests, he loved to hunt and fish. Art was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather that will be missed.
He is survived by his daughters, Donna Robbins of Mount Airy and Janet Burgess and husband, Kevin, of Havelock; sisters, Vera Fyffe of Texas and Charlotte Rhea of Texas; grandchildren, Cameron Mitchell, Jessica Pruett, Matthew White, Stephen White; and great-grandchildren, Cason, Natalee, Kylee Jo.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Shirley Winslow Stephens; son, Arthur Lee Stephens, Jr.; parents, Marley and Mable Stephens; and brothers, James Stephens and Wayne Stephens.
Family will receive friends from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, August 8, 2018, at Munden Funeral Home in Morehead City.
