Arthur L. Pollock, 90, of Newport, passed away Thursday, February 1, 2018 at Snug Harbor on Nelson Bay.
His funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, February 5, 2018 at Holly Springs Free Will Baptist Church, officiated by Reverend Mitchell Parker and Reverend Don Myers of Chapel by the Sea of Surf City. Interment, with military honors, will follow at Amariah Garner Cemetery.
Arthur honorably served in the United States Army in World War II in Germany. He was a dedicated 32nd Degree Mason and Shriner. Arthur was the superintendent of construction for Ballinger Corporation and was the former owner and operator of the Surf City Motel. He later retired from ACE Hardware in Surf City. Arthur also loved the water and enjoyed being a commercial fisherman. He was a founding member, deacon, and music coordinator for Chapel by the Bay in Surf City. He was a very giving man that volunteered most of his free time. He was a loving man that will be remembered for being a jokester.
He is survived by his wife, Annie Wilson Pollock of Newport; daughters, Darlene Pollock Woodard of Newport, Janice Bowen of Morehead City, Cindy McCausley and husband, Robert, of Newport, and Tina Pollock of Prattsville, AL; sons, Buddy Pollock and wife, Dawn, of Concord and Danny L. Pollock of Newport; step-sons, James Wilson and wife, Gwen of Jackson, TN, Mike Wilson and wife, Susan of Sandford and Tony Wilson and wife, Donna, of Wilmington; sister, Hilda Garner of Roseboro; sister-in-law, Hilda Pollock of Kernersville; brothers, Bill Pollock and wife, Alice of Newport, Harold Pollock and wife, Linda of Newport and Mann Pollock and wife, Carol of Jamestown, NY; 24 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mann and Jesse Pollock; sisters, Julia Dickinson, Margaret Mills and Oleta Bunch; and brother, Albert Pollock.
Family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 5, 2018 at Holly Springs Free Will Baptist Church.
Flowers are welcome or memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children at 50 W Faris Rd, Greenville, SC 29605.
