Arlene Clifton, 80, of Havelock, North Carolina, passed away on Sunday, October 1, 2023, at Carteret Landing, surrounded by her loving family.
A memorial service to honor Arlene’s life will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, November 4th at St. Christopher's Episcopal Church in Havelock.
Arlene was born on December 31, 1942, in Charleston, West Virginia, where she spent her formative years in a children's home until being lovingly adopted by Robert and Alma Buffam at the age of 10.
On her 20th birthday, Arlene married the love of her life, the late Ray Clifton, beginning a beautiful journey together on December 31, 1962. As Ray served in the U.S. Marine Corps, their family embraced the military life, creating lasting memories while moving from various locations. It was in 1981 when they finally settled in Havelock, NC, setting down roots that would extend deep into the community.
With an entrepreneurial spirit and a keen eye for real estate, Arlene excelled as a self-employed real estate broker for over three decades. She established Clifton Management and Rentals, building a successful business that served countless individuals and families in finding their dream homes.
Arlene was a woman of deep faith and compassion. Active in the local community, she dedicated herself to St. Christopher's Episcopal Church in Havelock. She loved teaching and engaging in various church activities, touching the lives of many through her kindness and genuine love for others.
Arlene has left behind a legacy of love, faith, and compassion that will forever be etched in the hearts of those fortunate enough to have known her. Her memory will continue to inspire and uplift those she touched throughout her remarkable life.
Arlene will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her. Those remaining to cherish her memory are her sons, Robert Clifton (Kathy) of Stacy, Scott Clifton (Erin) of Fort Worth, TX, and David Clifton (Happiness) of Williston; grandchildren, Emily Clifton, Sarah Clifton, Mitchell Clifton, Graysen Clifton, Ella Clifton, and Conner Clifton; and great-grandchildren, Maddie Miller and Jake Miller.
In addition to her parents, Arlene was preceded in death by her loving husband, Ray Clifton Jr., and son, Mark Clifton.
