April Caroline Young

April Caroline Young, 46, of Newport, passed away Saturday, September 9, 2017 at her home.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 16, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at the Island Road Baptist Church at 836 Harkers Island Road in Beaufort, officiated by Charles Tyler.

April was born to James Sykes and Mary Sykes on December 16, 1970 at Carteret General Hospital. April was a kind and lovable woman that never met a stranger, she was a friend to everyone. April had a smile that would light up your day and a laugh that would take your breath away. Her children and grandchildren were her everything.  April was a kind and beautiful person inside and out and if you were lucky enough to know her then you’ll know that she’ll be greatly missed, but never forgotten.

April is survived by her father, James Sykes, Sr. of Newport; daughter, Melody Ann Young of Greenville; sons, Derek Michael Young of the home and William Blake Young of Beaufort, NC; brother, James Sykes, Jr., of New Bern; grandchildren, Amir Orlando Taylor, Jr., Mikel Derion Taylor, Bentley Paul Dunnaway, Austin Carter Young and Kendall Ryder Young.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Mary Powers.

The family will receive family and friends 1 p.m. to 2 p.m on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at the Island Road Church at 836 Harkers Island Road in Beaufort.
