Annie Mae Guthrie

Annie Mae Willis Guthrie, 85, of Morehead City went to be with her Lord on Sunday, August 3, 2015 at Crystal Coast Hospice House.

A funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon on Thursday, August 6, 2015 at Parkview Baptist Church with Rev. Mark McNiel, Rev. Jerry Linebarger, and Charles Matthews officiating. Private interment  to be held at later date.

Annie Mae has been involved with Parkview Baptist Church since the beginning in the early 1950's when First Baptist Church saw the need for a mission. Parkview started when Annie and many of the young people would hold Sunday School on Sunday aftrenoon after they cleaned the American Legion Hut of all trash following Saturday parties. Her life at Parkview was very rewarding. She served as the Choir Director for 25 years, Clerk for 22 years, Librarian for 25 years, Fidelis Sunday School Teacher for the last 12 years, and Senior Adult Leader for 14 years. She had the privilege of serving with every pastor of Parkview since the beginning.

She is survived by one son, Robert Hughes and wife Sandra of Morehead City; step-son, Melvin Guthrie and wife Sharon of Newport; sister, Elsie Willis Diemer of Albany, GA; and a very special sister-in-law, Clara Guthrie Rizzo, and her daughter, Laura Lamm both of Newport.; step-grandchildren, Melvin Guthrie Jr. of Tenn. and Adrienne Taylor of Indiana

She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Rudolph Guthrie; parents, Alvin and Sabra Willis; four brothers, and five sisters. One was very special- Pearl and her husband, V.J. "Puck" O'Neal, who were more like parents to her.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
