Annie Elaine Guthrie, of Mill Creek, known to her family and close friends as “Sister”, was born on April 30, 1945 and completed her journey in flight to be with Jesus at the Crystal Coast Hospice House on March 14, 2018 at the age of 72 years young.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 18, 2018 at Graham Memorial Pentecostal Holiness Church in Mill Creek, officiated by Reverend Bill Hooper and Reverend Robbie Strickland. Interment will follow at Graham Memorial Cemetery in Mill Creek.
Annie had a sweet and innocent spirit. She loved her family, her friends, and most importantly she loved Jesus. Prior to her illness, she attended camp Glen Elementary School and later The Station Club in Morehead City. She was always ready and willing to get on the bus, go see her friends and help wherever she was needed. She was a proud member of the Graham Memorial Pentecostal Holiness Church in Mill Creek and prior to her illness, attended functions and went to Sunday School and Church regularly. In her most recent past, Annie has been diligently and compassionately cared for by the great staff at Crystal Buffs Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center and last week was moved to the Crystal Coast Hospice House where she spent several days continuing her journey to meet her Savior and family that had preceded her on their own journeys. Annie never saw imperfections in those around her and loved and tried to mother all children. However, never being married and having children of her own, she considered her nieces and nephews her own children.
Annie is survived by three brothers Tom Guthrie and wife, Nellie, of the home, Donald Guthrie and wife, Joy, of Vanceboro, and Andrew Guthrie and wife, Marilyn, of Broad Creek; nieces and nephews, Obie Lawrence and wife, Jamie, of Newport, Kristie Lawrence of Bettie, Duffy Guthrie of Mill Creek, Drew Guthrie and wife, Crystal, of Broad Creek, Elaina Wingfield and husband, Chris, of Greenville, Jason Guthrie and wife, Brittany, of Vanceboro, Jr. Willis of Mill Creek, Irma McCabe and April Thomas both of Raleigh; great nieces and nephews, Timmie, Chelsea, and Dante of Bettie, Hunter and Donald of Broad Creek, Marshall of Greenville, and Hannah, Jayden and Jacob of Mill Creek; she was also survived by her fur baby Ollie Guthrie.
Annie was preceded in death by her paternal and maternal grandparents; father and mother, Ira and Iona Guthrie of Broad Creek; sister, Shirley Lawrence of Bettie; nephew, Tommy Guthrie of Mill Creek; great nephew, Brayden Guthrie of Mill Creek; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Their reunion is beyond anything we can imagine.
Family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Sunday, March 18, 2018 at Graham Memorial Pentecostal Holiness Church in Mill Creek.
Flowers are welcome, or memorials can be sent to Graham Memorial Pentecostal Holiness Church at 3448 Mill Creek Rd., Newport, NC 28570 or the Crystal Coast Hospice House at 100 Big Rock Weigh, Newport, NC 28570.
