Pine Knoll Shores

Anne Guidone Reeves, 89, of Pine Knolls Shores, passed away Saturday, July 28, 2018, at her home, surrounded by members of her family.

A private celebration of her life will be held at a future time.

The only child of Erel Linguitti Guidone, MD and (Mary) Helene Regan, she lived a rich and rewarding life. Anne attended St. Elizabeth’s College, from which she graduated with a B.A. While in New Jersey, she met her future husband, Richard Vincent Reeves (Dick). Married for more than 69 years, they were to have nine children together.

In 1956,  the growing family moved to Huntington N.Y.  There, Anne became deeply involved in the community with her children’s schools and activities, becoming head of the local PTA. Her children remember her as the pied piper of the neighborhood and fondly recall trips to Fire Island with the station wagon filled with children. Her lifelong love of the beach had its roots in her childhood and trips to Cape Cod where her father painted.

She had a great appetite for learning and loved history and art, frequenting New York’s many museums with multiple kids and friends in tow.  Holidays were always special.  Anne was adept at hiding Christmas presents in neighbors’ homes and organized  festive dinners with neighborhood families.

Inspired by her love of the shore and her husband’s passion for golfing, the couple retired to Pine Knoll Shores in the early 90’s.  There Anne continued to volunteer, combining two loves, meeting new people (young and old) and learning more about her new home; she was a dedicated and popular volunteer for  the NC aquarium, the Fort Macon Civil War Museum and the Beaufort soup kitchen.  She was also a member of many groups, from the potluck club that met on the beach Sunday evenings to await sundown, to the ladies’ financial club.  Her nine children, and their children, visited and enjoyed vacationing there with her often.  Anne had a gift for friendship and  was  loved and cherished by all who had the honor of knowing her.

She is survived by her husband, Dick; daughters, Sally, Gail, Maura, Abby, and Rebecca; sons, Mark, Donn, David, Duncan; 27 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren. All adored her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Erel and Helene Guidone and son-in-law, Richard Osberg.
