Anna “AJ” Gosnell Jones, 93, of Morehead City and formerly of Raleigh, passed away on Saturday, July 9, 2022, at Crystal Bluffs Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.
Anna, or “AJ” as she was most fondly known, was born on April 15, 1929, in Johnson City, Tennessee, to the late Lloyd and Mary Gosnell. She spent most of her childhood in Raleigh, graduating from Hugh Morrison High School. AJ had a long career working for the North Carolina Legislature which she did for most of her adult life. She was a faithful member of First Presbyterian Church in Raleigh, NC.
She is survived by her brother-in-law, Ellis Beasley (Sylvia) of Wake Forest; special niece, Jamie Horne and her husband Richie, along with their son Riley, all of Morehead City; nephew, Eddie Barnett and his wife Judith, and their daughters, Emily and Caroline, all of Hillsborough; nephew, Tim Beasley and his wife Deborah, and their children, Donna and Taylor, all of Youngsville, NC; nephew, Paul Gosnell of Virginia; and nieces, Susan Gosnell of Florida, Lynn Gosnell of Texas, and Leigh Gosnell of Chapel Hill.
In addition to her parents, AJ was preceded in death by her sisters, Peggy Beasley, Linda Watkins, and Donna Rogers, and brothers, Henry Lloyd Gosnell Jr. and Butch Gosnell.
