Anna Murdoch Stewart

Anna Murdoch Stewart, 73, of Morehead City, NC passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, February 21, 2023, surrounded by her family. Anna battled cancer since November 2022.

A celebration of her life will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, February 28th at First Presbyterian Church in Morehead City, NC.

Anna's genuine kindness and gentle heart were an example to us all, and she will always be remembered fondly by all who knew her. A constant in her life was a loving appreciation for God's natural beauty on earth; especially birds, trees, plants, and flowers.

Anna graduated from West Carteret High School and East Carolina University with a degree in art education.

Anna was a member of the Virginia Symphony Chorus, in Norfolk Virginia for many years. She also was a member of the choir at First Presbyterian Church Virginia Beach and the choir at First Presbyterian Church Morehead City, NC. She loved singing and classical music. She was also a "Master Gardener'' and loved flowers and decorating her yard with flowers. In addition to music and gardening, she loved golf and her many golf girlfriends.

She is survived by her husband, Philip Matt Stewart of 53 years; son, Matt Murdoch Stewart; grandsons, Jacob Earl Stewart, Philip James Stewart and Luke Henry Stewart; daughter-in-law, Tori Seibert Stewart; and her brothers, Steve Murdoch and Michael Murdoch.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Monica Grace Stewart; father, Albert Earl Murdoch; and mother, Marianne Budscheid Murdoch.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Presbyterian Church "Bell Choir, 1604 Arendell Street, Morehead City, NC 28557.
