Ann Elizabeth (Massey) Snell

Ann Massey Snell, 88, of Beaufort and Zebulon, NC, passed away Tuesday, September 17, 2013 at her home.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 am Friday at First Free Will Baptist Church in Beaufort, with Rev. Richard Patterson officiating. Interment will follow at Carteret Memorial Gardens.
She was born in Zebulon, NC. Her parents were the late Philip and Louise Massey. She was preceded in death by her husband, Haywood F. Snell, and her daughter, Joanne S. Beckwith.
She is survived by her daughter, Linda Joy Murphy and two sons, James H. Snell and wife Jane and Philip H. Snell. Grandchildren, Lynn Meek, Deanna Cannon, Leigh Fulcher, Christie Snell, Melissa Senter, and Jeff Snell. Ann had six great-grandchildren, and ten great-great-grandchildren, and two great-great-great-grandchildren.
Ann graduated from Wakelon High School and attended E.C.T.C now known as East Carolina University. Miss Ann was a school teacher, book keeper, and retired deputy clerk of court. Miss Ann loved life and people. On her 88th birthday she went boat riding and dancing. She loved Beaufort. She will be missed by her family, neighbors, and friends.
Her hobby and life's love was genealogy, she was extremely proud of her Southern heritage. She loved to go to church and loved "her" pastor.
The visitation will follow the graveside service at the church.
