Ann Margaret Rady

Ann M. Scripture Rady, 79, of Morehead City, passed away Friday, November 18, 2016 at the Crystal Coast Hospice House surrounded by family.

A funeral service will be at 2:00 pm Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at First Baptist Church in Morehead City with Rev. Charles Allard officiating.  Interment will follow at Gethsemane Memorial Park.

Ann moved to Carteret County in 1943 with her family.  Her parents started the Dairy Queen in Morehead City.  She and her husband Tom took over that family business and ran it until 1984.  She was a social worker for 45 years, including working at the Broad Creek Clinic, Leon Mann Jr. Enrichment Center, Carteret County Department of Social Services, and was the first director of Ekklesia.  Ann was an active member of the First Baptist Church and President of the band boosters for West Carteret High School.  She was a devoted wife, mother, and sister.

Ann is survived by her husband of 55 years, Thomas “Tom” H. Rady; son, Christopher “Chris” Thomas of Los Angeles, CA; brother, Murray H. Scripture and wife Joan of Greenville, SC; and nieces and nephews, Karen, Jason, Patrick and Jennie.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Hobart P. and Helen A. Scripture.

The family will welcome friends from 6:00 – 8:00 pm Monday, November 21, 2016 at Munden Funeral Home in Morehead City.
