Ann Mason Jones

Ann Mason Jones, 79, of Atlantic, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 21, 2025, at Carteret Health Care, surrounded by her family and close friends.

A graveside service to honor Ann’s life will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, March 25th at Atlantic Community Cemetery.

Born on December 14, 1945, in Morehead City, NC, Ann was the daughter of the late Avon and Melba Mason. She spent her early years enjoying the salt air and scenic beauty of the Banks, where she had many fond memories.

Ann was blessed to spend 53 wonderful years with her husband, the late Howard “Steve” Jones. Together, they built a beautiful life, filled with love and adventure. Ann often accompanied Steve on his trips as a truck driver, enjoying the opportunity to explore new places and meet new people along the way.

Ann loved a good shopping trip and enjoying eating out, Crab Shack and El’s being her favorites. She had a sweet tooth and enjoyed nothing more than delicious desserts and sugary delights.

More than anything, Ann loved her family and had many special memories of fun times spent with her beloved grandchildren.

Those remaining to cherish her memory are her daughters, Michele O'Neal and husband ZB of Morehead City and Jackie Mason and husband Walter Goodwin of Cedar Island; granddaughter, Dakota Mason; grandson, Chance Goodwin; great granddaughter, Lily Matthews; and her furbaby, Bo.

In addition to her parents, Ann was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Howard "Steve" Jones, who passed away in 2022; brother, Neal Mason; and grandson, Josh Mason.
