Anita Faye Ballou

Anita Faye Ballou, 86, of Morehead City, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 3, 2024, at the Crystal Coast Hospice House.

A funeral service to honor Faye’s life will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, August 7th at First Baptist Church in Morehead City, officiated by Rev. Darrell Williams. Interment will follow at Bayview Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. 

Faye was born on June 6, 1938, in Morehead City, NC, to the late Basil and Eudora Morton. In 1955, at the tender age of 17, she married her forever sweetheart the late, Robert “Bobby” Ballou. Known as Captain Bobby for his work on the water, he honored Faye by christening a boat in her name, “Lady Faye,” combining his devotion to her and his passion for boats.

Faye and Captain Bobby led a remarkable life together, raising their family with love and wisdom, and imparting lasting values to the generations that followed. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren held a special place in her heart and were a great source of joy. A woman of unwavering faith, Faye centered her life on her love for the Lord and His promises. She was an active member of First Baptist Church for many years, contributing to various activities and events.

Working in the healthcare sector, Faye dedicated herself to caring for others with warmth and empathy. Her role as a caregiver was marked by kindness, compassion, and meticulous attention to detail. Through her selfless actions, she brought peace and support to numerous individuals and their families.

Those remaining to cherish her memory are her daughter, Candace Ballou Roche and husband Robert of Morehead City; son, Captain Robert “Bobby” Ballou Jr. of Morehead City; grandchildren, Morgan Keli McMahan, Robert Ethan Ballou and Zackery Brandon Ballou; great-grandchildren, Madisyn Lynne Peden, Quinn Nichole McMahan, and Camden Ballou; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Faye was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 64 years, Captain Robert “Bobby” Ballou, in 2019; daughter, Kathryn Gail Williams; son, Brandon Morton Ballou; sisters, Rachel Willis and Sena Guthrie; brother, John Morton; and granddaughter, Lauren Nichole Kraszeski.

As an expression of sympathy, flowers are welcome or memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church, 810 Bridges St., Morehead City, NC 28557.
