Alvah “Schooie” Monroe Taylor, 87, of Gloucester, passed away Friday, November 16, 2018, at his home.
His funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, November 21, 2018, at Munden Funeral Home, officiated by Rev. Fred Starling. Interment will follow at Victoria Cemetery in Marshallberg.
Schooie was a follower of Jesus Christ and proudly served our country in the United States Coast Guard for 20 years. He enjoyed people and never met a stranger. He loved building lighthouses, fishing with his wife Wendy and travelling the countryside. He was passionate about yard sales and was a thrifty shopper. Schooie had an inseparable love for his wife Wendy.
He is survived by his wife, Wendy Taylor, of the home; step-daughter, Anna Marie Boone of Spring Hope; step-sons, Michael Boone and wife, April Blow, of Lucama and Christopher Bertan of Smithfield; daughter, Pamela Taylor of Burgaw; son, Wayne Charles Taylor and companion, Annette Willis, of Gloucester; nephews, Jeffrey Taylor of Davis, Pastor Weston Earl Taylor of Virginia, Chris Taylor of Straits and Kevin Taylor of Newport; and grandchildren, Allison Taylor, Kenslyn Boone and Waylon Boone.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvah and Gertrude Taylor; brother, Robert D. Taylor of Newport; 3 infant brothers, Harold, Weston and James Michael; and son, Little “Al” Alvah Taylor.
Family will receive friends from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, November 21, 2018, at Munden Funeral Home.
