Allison Rebecca Burns
February 23, 1982 — July 17, 2016
Allison Rebecca Burns, 34, of Morehead City, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer, on Sunday, July 17, 2016, at her home surrounded by her family.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, July 22, 2016, at the First Baptist Church in Morehead City, with Rev. Nate Leonard and Rev. Charles Allard officiating. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, August 6, 2016 at Whiteville Memorial Cemetery, located at 1013 James B. White Hwy North, in Whiteville, NC with Rev. James Rivers officiating.
Allison was a member of the First Baptist Church in Morehead City.
Allison began working at AB Surf Shop while she was in high school at the age of 15. During her junior year at NC State University, where she was majoring in textile and apparel management, she started working for AB Surf Shop as a manager and buyer. After she graduated from college, she was employed full-time with AB Surf Shop until she started working for Burns & Wilcox in May, 2011, as a commercial lines underwriter.
She is survived by her parents, William “Willie” and Linda Gillikin Burns of Morehead City; brother, Brantley Burns of Shallotte, NC; her special friend, Mike Thomas of Morehead City; and her special and loyal lab, Ella “Ellie Bellie”.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Iva and Hiram Gillikin; and paternal grandparents, Maude and John Burns.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 21, 2016, at the First Baptist Church Family Life Center in Morehead City, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.
The family gives out a special thank you to all of the doctors and nurses at UNC Health Care, as well as Duke University Medical Center. Also, a special thank you to Allison’s doctor, Dr. Katrina Conrad of Morehead City, NC.
