Aline P. Evans

March 13, 1929 — October 27, 2018

Cape Carteret

Aline P. Evans, 89, of Cape Carteret, passed away Saturday, October 27, 2018, at the Crystal Coast Hospice House.

Aline was born in Vasper, TN, the eldest child of the late Theodore and Elsie Perkins of Sandusky, OH. As a young woman, Aline attended Carson-Newman College in Jefferson City, TN. She worked for many years in management for Howard Johnson’s and other nationally known restaurant companies. She later relocated to North Carolina and earned an Industrial Engineering degree from Wake Technical Community College. She then pursued her Engineering career with GKN, the British multinational automotive components company, until her eventual retirement. Aline’s work ethic was unmatched.

Aline was an avid reader and had many interests that included crochet, solving puzzles, and travel. She was incredibly intelligent, quick witted, and possessed a broad sense of humor. She could always be counted on for snappy comebacks and a good laugh. Aline was an avid follower of NCAA Basketball and was a die-hard Duke fan. Her very favorite activity was spending time with family, her motto always being, “It’s all about the family.” All who knew her loved her. She was kind, compassionate, and her love was unconditional. Nothing made her happier than spending time with her five sons and their extended families. No one adored children more than Aline and no one adored Aline more than her family. She was a true matriarch and will be greatly missed.

Aline is survived by her five sons, Jerry (Kathy) Evans of Houston, TX, Phil (Lauren) Evans of Stella, NC, Craig (Tammy) Evans of Sanford, NC, Glenn (Calvin) Evans of New York, NY, Randy (Glenda) Evans of Jamestown, TN, her sisters, Fran Kingsley of Castalia, OH, Jane (Howard) Reinhart of Memphis, TN, her grandchildren, David Evans, Allison Jones, Mark Zimmerman, Scott Zimmerman, Erin Lamz, Christa Thompson, Lee Ann Evans, Melanie Kinton, Millie Crisp, eleven great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and her precious chihuahua, “Bella”.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her brother Gene Perkins, her former husband Wayne Evans, and her sweet poodle, “Scooter”.

Aline selflessly and generously chose to donate her remains to UNC Medical School to assist in advances in medicine. A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held at a later date. The family would like to thank the SECU Crystal Coast Hospice House for their compassionate and skilled care during her final days.

The family requests in lieu of flowers donations may be made in her name to the Crystal Coast Hospice House at P.O. Box 640, Newport, NC 28570.
