Alice Marie Taylor Weaver

January 17, 1927 — February 9, 2018

Alice Marie Taylor Weaver, 91, entered eternal rest at her home in Medford, NJ on February 9, 2018.

Her funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at Sea Level United Methodist Church, officiated by Rev. Paul Harris and Rev. Nelson Koonce. Interment will follow at Nelson Bay Cemetery.

Alice Marie was born in her family home in Sea Level, North Carolina in 1927.   She was the second child of Lydia Linwood Lupton and Mervin Allen Taylor (she was predeceased by her brother, Francis, 13 years her senior). Her family lived briefly in Staten Island, NY where her father was stationed in the Coast Guard, before returning "Down East" to Sea Level after her father's death in 1929.  She went to high school in Atlantic, NC where she was salutatorian and played on the girls’ basketball team.  After high school, she attended the Women's College of the University of North Carolina (now UNCG) and after college she worked in the State's Attorney's Office in Baltimore.

She met her future husband, Roy B. Weaver of Rushford, NY in 1944, when he was a Midshipman at the Naval Academy.  They married in Baltimore on August 2, 1952.  As a military family, they moved often, living in California, Maryland, Virginia, and Massachusetts, before settling in Medford, New Jersey in 1974.

Alice Marie loved to travel and made over 30 trips to Europe on military "Space A" flights with her husband, documenting each trip in a souvenir photo album.  They also visited Hawaii, Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean, the Azores, Morocco, Turkey, and Guam.

She loved cooking and entertaining family and friends and owned hundreds of cookbooks.   She also enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, needlepoint, quilting, macramé, and many other crafts.   Other interests included, reading, gardening, genealogy, crossword puzzles, and bridge.

She was the beloved wife of Cdr. Roy Babbitt Weaver (deceased) and devoted mother of four sons, Richard (deceased), Ron, Randy, and Roger, and one daughter, Robin Ann (who died two days after her birth in 1964).

Memorial donations may be made to the US Naval Academy Foundation P.O. 291 Wood Road, Beach Hall, Annapolis MD 21402-1254 or the History Place, the Historical Museum of Carteret County 1008 Arendell St. Morehead City NC 28557.
