Alfred Lewis, Jr.

Alfred Lewis, Jr., 73, of Newport, passed away Sunday, May 6, 2018 at Carolina East Medical Center.

His funeral service will be held 2:00 pm Saturday, May 12, 2018 at Munden Funeral Home Chapel in Morehead City with Pastor Ted Erskine officiating. Interment will follow at Gethsemane Memorial Park with military honors.

Mr. Lewis served in the U.S. Marine Corps for 7 years. He was a member of The Sanctuary of Newport.

He is survived by his wife of almost 50 years, Eloise Thomas Lewis of the home; daughters, Shanese Lewis of Carencro, LA, Sabrina Matthews and Kimberly Jemison both of Newport; sons, Frederick Lewis, Sr. of Havelock and John Alfred Lewis of Newport; brothers, Melvin Lewis of Sunset, LA, Charles Lewis of Grand Coteau, LA; sisters, Beatrice Lewis of Opelousas, LA, Shirley Francis and Beaulah Breaux of Sunset, LA; 20 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred Lewis, Sr., and Ophelia Milton Lewis; daughter, Bernadette Patrick; brothers, Robert Lewis and George Lewis; and sisters, Elizabeth Cormier, Remona Barlow and Earline Francis.

The family will receive friends 1:00 – 2:00 pm Saturday, May 12, 2018 at Munden Funeral Home.
