Alexander L. Fimbel Jr.

December 4, 1965 — February 3, 2025

Cape Carteret

Alexander L. Fimbel Jr., 59, of Cape Carteret, NC, passed away suddenly at his home on February 3, 2025.

Alex was born in Holyoke, Massachusetts on December 4, 1965. He was the beloved son of the late Alexander and Joan (Boardway) Fimbel. He grew up in Chicopee, MA, graduated from Chicopee Comprehensive High School in 1984. He was a Retired U.S Naval Medical Corpsman Veteran serving for 25 years. A Master Mason for 6 years at Seaside Masonic Lodge #429, NC, and member of the Widow’s Sons. He received a Master’s Degree in Public Health Sciences in Epidemiology and Environmental Health at Trident University International. He also attended Duke University and UMASS (his parents would be so proud).

Originally from Massachusetts, Alex carried the heart of New England wherever he went. Blending his sharp wit, love of music (thank you, Mrs. Gailey wink wink!), piano playing and his prized Les Paul service guitar (oh the poor neighbors), and a passion for storytelling into every chapter of his life.

During his distinguished career in the Navy, Alex served as a Medical Corpsman, and Epidemiologist, dedicating himself to safeguarding the health, and wellbeing of his fellow service members. His work was marked by intelligence, diligence, and a deep sense of duty.

Those who knew Alex will remember his infectious enthusiasm, quirky humor and unwavering dedication to his craft and country. He leaves behind a legacy of service, creativity and love for God and Family. Talking daily to his “sorella” Dale for hours, reminiscing about their childhood, laughing at their silly antics brought him much happiness.

Pete (affectionally called) will be deeply missed by his sisters, Lyn Matysiewicz and husband Gary, Dale Fimbel Berube and husband Scott. Most awesome “Uncle Alex” to Stephen Colaluca and wife Meghann, Lisa Nummy and husband Zak, Heather Colaluca, Christopher Scheehser, Cara Scheehser, Delaney Berube and Savannah Berube. Great “Uncle Alex” to Keagan, Leo, Vincent, Wyatt, Wilhemina, and Violet. Nephew to Annette LaMountain and Terry Murphy, Robert and Christine Fimbel, James and Julie Boardway, and Kenneth Boardway. Nephew to the late Francis and Lorriane Fimbel, Edward Fimbel, Joan and Robert Houle, William and Marilyn (living) Fimbel. Best cousin affectionately called Petou to Sheila, Franny, Sandy, Michele, Diane, Donald, Laurie, Linda, Mary, Julie, Jenny, Butch, Amy, April and Sandie. Along with many dear friends, colleagues, and neighbors Ken and June, especially Walt and Buddy his dog, all who will forever cherish his memory.

A full Military Honors Ceremony will be held on June 3, 2025, at 3 p.m. EST, at Westover AFB Chicopee, MA 01022. Burial for Alex will be private.
