Addie Carrow Thomas Whitley, 92, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 7, 2022 at Trinity Grove in Wilmington. Addie Carrow was born in Beaufort, NC on November 8, 1929 to Phillip Norval Thomas and Irene Neal Thomas.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James W. Whitley, Sr; her siblings, Phil Thomas Jr, Maxie Jordan, Cindy Woodward, Frances Dickens; and a host of loving cousins.
Addie Carrow grew up in Beaufort, NC and always considered Beaufort her “home”. In 1949 she married Jack Whitley, and in 1959 they moved their young family to Jacksonville, NC and made their home there. Addie Carrow was very involved in church life at Trinity United Methodist Church, her children’s activities, and weekly bridge games with friends.
She is survived by her three children, Phyllis W. Williams of Beaufort, Jack Whitley Jr (Lyn) of Wilmington, Neal Whitley (Caroline) of Raleigh; grandchildren, Gray Williams (Sarah), Serena Mullins (Ricky), Mason Spittler (Eric), McRae Otto (Luke), and Colbourne Whitley; great grandchildren, Bradley and Jackson Williams, and Goldie Mullins; numerous nieces and nephews and special cousins.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Wednesday, April 13, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Ann Street United Methodist Church in Beaufort with Rev. Powell Osteen officiating. Internment will follow at Oceanview Cemetery, Beaufort.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Trinity Grove for the care, compassion, love and support our mother and our family received as she made her home there for the last four years.
