Aaron Bruce Murray

Aaron Bruce Murray, 78, of Mooresville, passed away on Sunday, December 18, 2016 at his home surrounded by his loving wife and family.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 7, 2016 at Parkview Baptist Church, 4738 Arendell Street, Morehead City, with Pastor John Carswell and Deacon Chris Morrison officiating.

He was born on March 6, 1938 in Rocky Mount, NC, to the late Richard Hand and Dale Bridges Murray.  Bruce was retired from BFI Waste Systems and after retirement he started his own waste management company.  When asked what he did, his response was always “I’m a garbage man”.  He was a member of Parkview Baptist Church in Morehead City, NC.  Bruce loved to travel with his wife and visit casinos.  He was a sports fanatic, especially football and golf.  He also loved his family and spending time with his grandchildren.  Mr. Murray was a very active in his church and loved his church family.  He was a good friend and was loved by many.

He is survived by his loving wife, Cynthia Bradley Murray; daughters, Regina Green and husband, Dillard of Red Oak, Bridget Skillman and husband Tim of Sacramento, CA, Joanna Pike and husband, Kent of Mooresville; sister, Jean Butler and husband Claude of Rocky Mount; brother, Jerome Murray of Rocky Mount; and grandchildren, Nick and Zach Green, Morgan and Logan Skillman, and Abby and Taylor Pike.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Rev. Horace Murray, Hilton Murray, Durwood Murray; and sister, Diane Murray.

The family will receive friends following the service.
